FROM WHAT AGE?
Babies can receive gentle touch from the moment they are born. Babies are reassured by skin contact and it really helps to establish bonds between parent and baby, this why Skin-to-Skin after birth is now beginning to be widely recognised as a great early years stimulant! Once your baby is around 6 - 8 weeks old, they can start to receive a slightly longer massage providing there are no underlying medical issues and your baby is happy and healthy. Once your baby has had a postnatal check with your midwife or Doctor, 6 - 8 weeks t pre-crawling is a great time to join a Little Ducks Baby Massage class! If you are pregnant or have a newborn, and are interested in Baby Massage, then let's talk!

WHAT DO I NEED TO ENSURE BEFORE BOOKING?
Remember to check that your baby is happy and healthy before you begin to practice massage together, and if they have any underlying health conditions, it may be best to seek advice from your GP prior to booking. We ask that any health conditions are noted on the booking form.

You may wish to bring a toy or a favourite blanket to Little Ducks Baby Massage sessions, we will provide the oil, handouts / booklet and yoga mat.

You may also want to bring a towel / baby wipes / nappies...accidents do happen!
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO MASSAGE MY BABY?
Usually when your baby is in their 'Quiet Alert' state, which tends to be after a feed and a sleep. We suggest leaving 35 -45 minutes after a feed before you massage if possible, just so we do not interrupt the digestive process. At Little Ducks Baby Massage, we talk through common baby cues and signs to ensure that they are relaxed and in the mood for a massage. At Little Ducks Baby Massage, we always ask baby’s permission before beginning.
